Orval Choate, 77 Teakean area
OROFINO - Orval Choate, 77, a lifelong resident of the Teakean area, died at the Clearwater Valley Hospital here at 8:30 Thursday morning after suffering a heart attack.
Choate was a retired farmer. He also had worked for the Clearwater Timber Protective Association and for the Clearwater County Road Department. During the 1940s he installed the first electric lines in many Teakean area homes.
Choate was fond of growing vegetables and flowers and was well known for his potatoes.
He was born at Teakean Aug. 27, 1904, to Frederick and Mamie Choate.
Choate was baptized in 1954 as a member of the American Missionary Fellowship. He was a member of the Evergreen and state and national grange.
He married Pearl Gainer at Teakean April 18, 1926.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Alda McIver of Orofino; Alice Damman of Lewiston, and Agnes Vaughn of Veradale, Wash.; a brother, Cecil Choate of Lewiston; a sister Evelyn Fasola of Seauim, Wash; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Gilbert Chapel here. Burial will be at the Teakean Cemetery.
